Coagula Weekend Bender January 9
By admin2 | January 11, 2010 - 8:35 pm - Posted in Weekend Bender, harley

Some folks were in Santa Monica, some were in CHINATOWN. Lots of folks hit the opening of the Temple of Vision on Spring Street was a big deal. A show curated by Radhika Heresy and Jimmy Bleyer was like if Juxtapoz magazine had been published in 1969 and came to life with hallucinations of i-phones in every hippie hand - a very sixties/krishnaesque vibe from salon style hanging of complex, detailed and colorful paintings everywhere surrounded the atmosphere - someone walked around with neon butterfly glasses taking pictures of everyone wearing them (if you see a photo of me wearing these, please destroy all traces of it).

There was music, veggie type food and a girl running around announcing that she had brought sea salt from the Himalayas to share. I didn’t lecture her that there is no sea in the Himalayas to get salt from, the mood was too good and the old infusion space, just up the street from The Hive Gallery is an effort of love amidst the predicament of finding consciousness-expanding art amidst Tarot card excellence. Speaking of which, art star Rick Robinson ponied up 20 bucks for a Tarot reading at the Hive and reports that he is pleased with the results.

But there was plenty more art show around town this weekend - as always, click the photos to make them BIGGER!
