Christopher Knight, LA TIMES art critic, powerful arbiter of the art of our times, Christopher Knight has a mullet haircut. As captured in this photo (taken Tuesday, 1-12-10) by renowned Los Angeles photographer Gary Leonard, Knight, seen here on the far right speaking with (L-R) Eli Broad and Jeffrey Deitch, has intentionally styled and cut his hair short in the front, business style, while allowing the back to grow past his collar, rocker style. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a MULLET hairstyle. All that is missing from L.A.’s original culture monster is a Black Sabbath tee shirt.

Christopher Knight decides which art to mention, which art to add to the dialogue, and even more importantly, which art to ignore. And he has a haircut that went out of fashion in 1981, a hairstyle that is universally mocked and derided by tastemakers and the masses alike.
For more on Christopher Knight’s reactionary opinion-mongering on the outdated wall between public and private corporations, read my screed on MOCA’s hiring of Jeffrey Deitch in the new issue of COAGULA ART JOURNAL, perusable online at COAGULA.NET. My rant begins on page 4.
